Out of Character is an exhibit showcasing the evolution of identity through stylized figurative work, including animated pieces, drawings, paintings, and sculptures. Co-curated by Pierogi Gallery and Willy Hartland.
As part of the Out of Character exhibition, Pierogi Gallery and Mana Contemporary present Greg Barsamian’s Blue Shirts (2013) and Drums (2013).
Mana Contemporary and Obsessive Sneaker Disorder (OSD) present From the Feet Up, a celebration of the interlinked culture of sneakers and hip-hop on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. The exhibition showcases 50 sneakers dating back to 1973, emphasizing important collaborations between commercial brands, musicians, and sports icons.
Visit the Jonas Mekas Cinema, tucked adjacent to his Mana Contemporary Chicago exhibit, to enjoy a special screening of films and videos from several artists that “embrace life, documented as it occurs”. The screenings are hosted in partnership with Onion City Film Festival and Monira Foundation.
