Pointers for III Points: Your Guide to the Best Festival Weekend
From saving set times to packing the essentials, here’s how to prepare for the festival.
This year will be my third III Points, and after a couple years of stage hopping and late nights, I’ve picked up a few tips that make the weekend easier. Whether you’re going for the first time or come back every year, a little preparation leaves you with more time to enjoy the music.
Save your set times and festival map
Before heading out, download the Insomniac App and check the III Points set times. Pick your must-see artists, figure out any overlaps, and give yourself time to walk between stages.
My favorite trick is to screenshot my schedule and make it my phone’s lock screen. It saves you from repeatedly opening the app when you’re in a crowd trying to figure out where to go next. Save the festival map, too, so you can easily find stages, bathrooms, and food.
Wear comfortable shoes
I love a good festival outfit, but comfortable shoes are a priority. You’ll spend hours walking, standing, and dancing, so choose a pair you’ve already broken in.
Wear comfortable socks and consider bringing moleskin for spots where your shoes tend to rub. If your shoes hurt before you leave the house, you definitely won’t want to be wearing them at the end of the night.
Pack the essentials
A few small things are worth making room for in your bag. Bring a poncho in case it rains, a portable charger, earplugs, and a compact fan.
Charge both your phone and your portable charger before leaving. Between taking photos, checking set times, and finding your friends, you’ll want enough battery left to book your ride home.
Pace yourself
With sets running until 4 a.m., III Points is a long night. Eat before you arrive, drink water throughout the evening, and take breaks when you need them. You’ll want some energy left for those final sets.
Pace your schedule, too. Trying to catch everything can mean spending more time rushing between stages than enjoying the music. Choose your priorities and give yourself permission to stay at a set you’re loving.
Plan your ride ahead of time
Figure out how you’re getting there and how you’re getting home before heading out.
Whether you’re using Uber, Lyft, or getting picked up by a friend, talk through the plan with your group. If someone is picking you up, agree on a meeting location and let them know if it changes.
If you’re visiting Miami, I’d look at staying in Wynwood or Midtown to keep your home base close to the festival.
Pick a meeting spot
Your friends probably won’t all want to see the same artists. Before splitting up, choose a specific meeting spot and a time to reconnect.
Having a plan gives everyone a chance to enjoy their own sets without constantly checking their phones.
Explore the vendors and activations
Leave some time to check out the vendors and sponsor activations between sets. It’s easy to get focused on your schedule and walk right past other things happening around the grounds.
Take a lap, grab something to eat, and see what catches your attention. It’s also a good chance to take a break and regroup with your friends.
Leave room for new discoveries
Have your must-see list, but keep some of the night open. If you walk past a stage and like what you hear, stop for a while. You don’t need to know an artist beforehand to enjoy their set.
You’re going to miss something, and that’s okay. Enjoy where you are instead of spending the whole time worrying about what’s happening somewhere else.
Be nice in the crowd
Say “excuse me” when you’re moving through people, be patient, and give others space. A little courtesy makes getting around easier for everyone.
Be friendly and look out for the people around you. You’re sharing the crowd for the night, and you might meet some cool people along the way.
With an incredible lineup, upgraded venue layout, and non-stop energy, III Points 2026 is shaping up to be one of the best editions yet.
